Shaun Palmer ‘Summer Job’ A2 Poster

The Fox kit the American snow board superstar turned mountain bike racer wore in his 1996 campaign. Palmer’s pants bore the ‘Summer Job’ logo as if downhill racing were a part time effort, but the man from Tahoe was deadly serious when he got in the staret gate. At the 1996 World Champs in Cairns. Australia he came within a quarter of a second of beating the French wunderkid Nico Vouilloz to claim the gold medal and thus started a long and entertaining rivallry between the two men.
Palmer made cuts into the jersey for ventilation which can be clarly seen in the poster, along with the dust of some downhill battles against the clock.

Mint Sauce is the mountain biking icon hatched from the brain of Sussex-based artist Jo Burt. The ovine biker and his cohorts are brought to the world via the pages of Mountain Biking UK magazine and have a home in the hearts of many an empathetic mtber who knows only too well the trials and tribulations (and scabby knees) of our great sport.
Mint has become such a part of the UK mtb landscape that, well, UK landscapes tend to look like Mint Sauce illustrations. When you are driving down the motorway on a sunny day and see blue sky and puffy clouds perhaps, like us, you think of sheep!

The 2016 downhill season saw the retirement from top flight competition of UK superstar Steve Peat - a fixture on the World stage for over 20 years - and the big man from Sheffield went out with a bang, partying at his three must important races with a custom painted Santa Cruz bike and matching Royal Racing clothing for each round. A minor detour from the dirt and fresh from this year's Tour is this abstract art featuring some of the colourful team buses that fill the race paddock. I shot all the images at the Individual time trial stage 13 in Pau and all on one lens. These aren't crops! UK Classics
Since Dirty Jerseys was born in the United Kingdom it only seems right to have a UK Classics poster. We all remember those long hot summers when it never,ever rained and our chests were bursting with the fresh air in England's (And Scotland, and Wales) green and pleasant land. Britain spawned its own icons such as the venerable Mint Sauce and the Shonky singlespeed outfit - or should that be misfits? The good old days when a sugary fizzy drink called 7Up sponsored the best race series in the country and we drove endless miles to meet adversaries that we had seen the following weekend at the other end of the country. Ride against them and have a big smile afterwards.
Many of the jerseys from those halcyon days are here on the 'UK Classics' poster. Names such as Saracen, Dawes,Orange and Been Bag will be familiar to many.
