The sad news of Orange’s potential demise has br The sad news of Orange’s potential demise has brought quite a few images of Peaty aboard his bumblebee bike so I thought I’d post something a little different. (Ive got the bumblebee bike too of course!) So here’s the bike Steve rode in the 2002 Worlds at Kaprun in Austria*. Can’t beat the natural look - sleek and fast.It was good to read the announcement from the long-standing British brand that it is still working to find a solution to its current situation. Let’s hope it all pans out OK for the future. I wish them luck.*For the record Steve won silver in that Worlds. No guesses who won gold. But he is French.
Happy 2024 people! Here’s something slightly lef Happy 2024 people! Here’s something slightly leftfield to kick off the new year.Luke ‘Skywalker’ Smith - remember him; Dirt magazine favourite who went on to be a freestyle motocrosser? This was taken at some trails in the Deep South of England, Haywards Heath? Crowhurst? and show Luke’s effortless style on his DMR with 24in wheels, standard issue for every dirt jumper bitd. Helmets were obviously not so necessary!-

If you’re in London’s West End this Thursday a If you’re in London’s West End this Thursday and want to dodge the Xmas madness you could do worse than slip into @cyclefit in Store Street where I shall be in conversation about my book Dirty Jerseys and showing off a wall-full of images from through the decades.
This one of the first Olympic champion, Paola Pezzo pretty in pink at a World Cup in Napa, California isn’t in the book - but her rainbow-striped, gold-sequinned skin suit most certainly is! There will some pimpin’ bikes on show courtesy of @richardmardle along with retro jerseys. I am reliably informed there will be beer. Kick off is at 6.30pm.Cyclefit, 38 Store St, London WC1E 7DB
Cove Hooker. Can’t remember when I made this and Cove Hooker. Can’t remember when I made this and don’t have time to check the EXIF. I know someone out there will know! Cove had a good 15 minutes of fame. I had two of em and loved them.

Looking at the truck in the background I reckon I made this pic in the pits at Snow Summit,Big Bear in 1998, but experts may know otherwise!*You may have noticed I’m moving away from jerseys towards more bike-related content, that’s because my book ‘Dirty Jerseys’ will go out of print at the end of January next year. There are still a few copies here if you want one on your shelf, (see link in bio) but I am now concentrating on the new book all about classic mtbs. Stay tuned.
I’ver been trawling my archive looking at all th I’ver been trawling my archive looking at all the bikes I have photographed down the decades and this one caught my eye.
It stopped me scrolling because I realised I hadn’t stored any details at the time and I have no idea what the model is. It is Eric Carter’s GT race bike and looks like a prototype with that shock mounting to the seat collar and the reservoir on the downtube. Is it a DHi? I would have shot it at a World Cup either in France, or Spain around the 98-00 period.
@ecmtb1 Care to enlighten us whilst providing me with database info?!

Gee is no stranger to stacks as we know, but I wonder how many people have seen his first foray into the Rampage freeride scene back in 2003 when he came a cropper attempting ‘Wade’s Drop”? Well, here’s a sequence I shot that day for your delectation!
Gee was a wild card travelling with UK race organiser Si Paton who had thoughtfully placed the Union flags in the ground to mark the take off. Gee couldn’t continue with that Rampage but we know how tough he is and it was just the start of his illustrious career. Enjoy your day big man! 🍻👊🏼
Here’s an image I made for Mountain Biker Intern Here’s an image I made for Mountain Biker International magazine of Jay Hardy riding Paolo Caramellino’s 1993 silver medal-winning Turro Meteor DH bike. The World’s were in Metabief, France that year and won by American Mike King on a bike made by Balance.
Things I remember about the Turro? It was heavy and the shock was located above the ‘top tube’ right below yer gnadgers!
